My favourite new feature of iOS 7 is an app called Begin.
OK, it's not a new Apple-implemented feature. But it is an iOS 7-only app. And man, is it clever.
Begin is a to-do list app. To be clear: I am fully aware that if there is any genre that is ultramegaoversaturated in the App Store, it's to-do lists. But it's that cleverness I mentioned — specifically, the pure focus on today and tomorrow — that makes it worth giving a look.
The purest form of to-do list is the one everyone without an existing system uses when they get too overwhelmed: you sit down and write everything you have to do today on a piece of paper. Then, whatever you don't accomplish today gets shifted to tomorrow's list.
Essentially, Begin is a digital version of this exact process, very elegantly executed with gestures and a native iOS 7-feeling design. And nothing more.
For a long time, I've struggled with the challenge of simultaneously maintaining a personal to-do list and keeping up to date with my agency's team project management tool. With a the stripped-down approach of Begin, I feel like that finally might be possible.
