Straight up: Brian K. Vaughan is possibly the most exciting and talented writer working in any kind of fiction today. He has carved out a niche and a unique storytelling style (not to mention a massive following) that stands out in the sequential art genre — see especially Saga) (ongoing) and Y: The Last Man (2002-2008).
Reuniting with artist Marcos Martin for the first time since their excellent Dr. Strange miniseries, Vaughan has got yet another classic-in-the-making on his hands: The Private Detective, a digital-only, creator-owned, self-published 10-issue miniseries. With all the PRISM leaks and general data privacy-related news we see lately, this short series' official description alone is pretty intriguing:
Set in a future where privacy is considered a sacred right and everyone has a secret identity, The Private Eye is a serialized sci-fi detective story for mature readers.
The kicker: Vaughan and Martin have adopted a pay-what-you-want business model. So, no excuses! Download. Read. Enjoy.
